Every child deserves to grow in a home where they feel safe, respected, and loved. Achieving this begins with equipping parents with the knowledge and skills to guide their children with understanding rather than fear. Guided by this commitment, Tambayan Center for Childrenโs Rights, Inc. successfully conducted the Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting Training last June 23โ24, 2026, in Ulas Proper, Talomo District, and June 26โ27, 2026, in Purok 10, Talomo Cemento, Davao City.
โThe four-day community-based training brought together parents and guardians from both communities to strengthen their understanding of positive parenting, child protection, and childrenโs rights.
โThe training began with an orientation introducing participants to Tambayan Center for Childrenโs Rights, Inc. Parents were also introduced to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), emphasizing every childโs right to protection, development, participation, and survival. The session highlighted the vital role of parents as partners in advancing childrenโs rights and creating safe environments where children can thrive.
โBuilding on this foundation, the succeeding sessions focused on the principles of positive discipline in everyday parenting, encouraging parents to view discipline as a process of teaching rather than punishing. Through interactive discussions, experiential learning activities, and reflective exercises, participants gained practical knowledge and parenting strategies that promote respectful, nurturing, and violence-free family relationships.
โParents actively participated in reflective activities that encouraged them to examine their own parenting practices, recognize the everyday joys and challenges of raising children, and better understand their childrenโs physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and developmental needs.
โOne of the highlights of the training was the introduction of the Parenting Toolbox, which equipped parents with practical strategies such as using Time-In, offering age-appropriate choices, acknowledging childrenโs emotions, establishing consistent family routines, and applying logical consequences. These positive discipline techniques provided participants with effective alternatives to corporal punishment and harsh verbal discipline while promoting childrenโs confidence, responsibility, and emotional well-being.
โThe training concluded with a vision-boarding activity where parents expressed their aspirations for families grounded in love, respect, open communication, teamwork, prayer, and mutual understanding. As participants shared their visions and personal commitments, they affirmed their willingness to apply the principles of positive discipline in their daily lives and become positive role models for their children.
โโThe successful implementation of the Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting Training reflects Tambayan Center for Childrenโs Rights, Inc.โs continuing commitment to empowering parents as their childrenโs first teachers, lifelong supporters, and strongest advocates. By investing in parents, the organization helps build stronger families where children are nurtured with love, guided with respect, and empowered to reach their full potential.
โAs the organization continues to empower parents and strengthen families, it remains steadfast in its belief that lasting change begins at home. After all, โWhen parents choose understanding over punishment, they donโt just change behaviorโthey shape a generation built on respect, resilience, and hope.โ
